In Remembrance of
Elder Paul A. Gordon
(1930-2009)
 Paul A. Gordon, former life trustee and Director of the Ellen G. White Estate, 1990-1995, died in Oregon on June 25, 2009, following a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Elder Gordon joined the staff of the White Estate in 1967 after serving 15 years in Oregon and Washington State as a pastor and academy Bible teacher.
Elder Gordon was a cofounder of Adventist Heritage Ministry in 1981 and led out in the acquisition of the William Miller home in 1984. During the 31 years he worked at the White Estate, he conducted numerous Adventist heritage tours and traveled to more than 100 countries promoting the ministry and writings of Ellen White.
Elder Gordon was the primary compiler for four Ellen White morning devotional books. He authored numerous periodical articles and several books including The Sanctuary, 1844, and the Pioneers, My Dear Brother M . . ., and Herald of the Midnight Cry. He also prepared a number of study guides for Ellen White’s books and compiled the 1009-page resource collection entitled Pioneer Articles on the Sanctuary . . . , 1846-1905.
Reflecting on Elder Gordon’s death, Jim Nix, current Director of the White Estate, commented, “Paul will be missed. He was a true friend and mentor who spent almost his entire ministry promoting awareness of the church’s heritage and God’s leading through the writings of Ellen White.” "He especially enjoyed introducing Ellen White as a real person and as one who was a friend to young people," remembers Tim Poirier, White Estate Vice Director. "It was an honor to work together with Paul for nearly 20 years."
Elder Gordon is survived by his wife, Donna, four children, and several grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers gift donations be made to the Community Center at the Medford (Oregon) Seventh-day Adventist church, or Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice Services.
The
